League Locally is a hands-on learning experience designed to strengthen how local officials lead, communicate, and govern together. This foundational training, coupled with the opportunity to network with your peers and League staff at the roundtable, is essential for all local government leaders.

Active, practical learning that translates directly to your next meeting.

Part 1

Training Session (2–5 PM)

Build confidence in the core skills every local government leader needs. The League Locally training experience brings key elements of the League’s Local Government Basics program to life through practical, real-world application focused on the topics municipal leaders ask for most. From Robert’s Rules of Order and effective meeting management to public records, open meetings, ethics, conflicts of interest, and closed session procedures, participants will strengthen their understanding of the foundational practices that shape effective governance. Through interactive discussion and a guided mock meeting experience, attendees will move beyond theory and practice navigating the challenges, decisions, and dynamics local leaders face every day.

Part 2

Member Roundtable (5–7 PM)

Join League staff and peers for open, candid conversation about current issues, shared challenges, and ongoing work across municipalities.

Free and open to all League members.

Who Should Attend

This program is open to all municipal officials, with particular value for members of governing bodies, boards, and commissions including city councils, village boards, planning commissions, parks boards, police and fire commissions, library boards, and more.

We strongly encourage municipalities to attend together to build shared understanding and strengthen team effectiveness.
