Accessible by Design: A Practical Analysis of the WCAG Accessibility Guidelines

Municipal websites are essential public service infrastructure, and accessibility is critical. This webinar will help Wisconsin municipalities understand WCAG accessibility guidelines, recognize common digital barriers, and take realistic steps toward improved access and reduced organizational risk.  Presenters will discuss accessibility beyond compliance, including the “disability tax,” common challenges with PDFs, agenda packets, forms, videos, and third-party tools, and practical ways to build accessibility into shared roles across municipal teams. Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of how accessibility benefits all residents and how ADA website compliance can be approached as an incremental, manageable, and ongoing process.
