The League’s Board of Directors created the Urban Alliance following the dissolution of the Alliance of Cities in 2011 to ensure that chief executives and finance directors from larger municipalities continue to have a forum to discuss and advocate on issues of concern to urban areas.

The Urban Alliance focuses on public policy evaluation and development; public education; and legislative advocacy.

Why do residents often perceive a lack of transparency, when the real challenge is often ineffective communication? This session covers how to communicate proactively before issues become controversies, practical ways to reach stakeholders where they are through the channels they actually use, and how well-planned public meetings with strong facilitation and respectful decorum help keep the focus on the message. Conversely, poorly managed meetings and disruptive behavior can distract from important information, diminish public trust, and undermine even the most transparent decision-making process.

This is an initiative that is designed to promote physical, financial, mental, spiritual wellness amongst state of WI police officers.  It is still in the beginning phases and may or may not be ready for discussion yet at this point.

The League of Wisconsin Municipalities hosts free monthly member roundtables for elected officials and staff on the second Tuesday of every month from noon to 1:00 p.m. CT via Zoom. These sessions allow municipal leaders to network, discuss issues, and share solutions. Registering for the Monthly Member Roundtable Package will register you for all Member Roundtable sessions throughout the year.
